STREET SPEAK

STREET STROLL ON HISTORIC 25TH STREET

By Jo Packham

It is a time for the community of Ogden to develop pride in what is ours. Our opportunity is finally here to work enthusiastically and diligently toward a goal of redevelopment. We must eat here, shop here, celebrate here, live here, invest in, and be an essential part of our Ogden. If what we want in a community isn't quite here yet, we must get involved and make the changes that will develop and improve our city. Complaining about and avoiding issues of concern will only impede our progress in this New Millennium. Each of us must assume our responsibility to bring our business and our enthusiasms back home. The heart of our downtown has a steady beat. It can beat stronger with your input! All of us who have already invested our enthusiasm and commitment on Historic 25th Street invite you to join us. Together we can make Ogden one of the most exciting shopping, entertainment, and dining areas on the Wasatch Front. It is a New Year, a New Millennium, and a New Beginning for the visitors, the shop owners, the restaurateurs, and the service facilitators on Historic 25. It is a time that has been slow in coming, yet has finally arrived with enthusiasm, determination, and unlimited possibility. There are new "things" happening on Historic 25 that will be of interest and of benefit to all of us. Historic 25 from this day forward will be universally considered a "destination." It is a place to come for whatever you need: a power lunch, a quiet dinner, a special gift, a household necessity, a new "do" for you, a relaxing massage, a cultural experience, or a party with friends. Watch for monthly events on Historic 25. The new HISTORIC 25 “First Friday Street Stroll" is now the first Friday of each month. It begins with the reception for new artists at the Gallery at the Station, continues with shopping and dining up 25th Street, and concludes with the artists reception at the Eccles Community Art Center. As the months progress, each First Friday will offer a new addition: entertainment in the Municipal Park Amphitheater, an event in coordination with the Egyptian Theater, a night for the honoring and pampering of Mother's, a fund raiser with the Junior League--it is all going to be right here on Historic 25th Street.
