BOYLES WAREHOUSE SAVED!!!

By Steven Andrews

To Be Part of the new IRS Building

Many congratulations and praise go to IRS, Big D Construction, Ogden City, City Planners, County Officials and even Federal influences in helping make the decision and accepting the proposal that included preserving and utilizing the historic warehouse on Wall Avenue between 22nd & 23rd streets. The saving of the Boyle Warehouse was a milestone in preserving a historical warehouse for use for a large construction project such as this. Boyle Furniture was the main provider of stoves and furnishings during the turn of the century in Ogden and for many years since. When you think of what was housed in this large warehouse it makes on appreciate how this building was essential in the early days of providing heat and comfort to the early settlers, it's historical significance is priceless. Unfortunately the Boyles Furniture Store building on Washington Blvd was taken down long ago located on the east side of Washington Blvd. between 24th & 25th Streets. The warehouse building was where the store warehoused all the items sold in the store on Washington Blvd. The space will be used in conjunction to the new building which is well under way. Together, old and new they will provide office space for IRS employees later this year. A great milestone for Ogden City. The future does look bright for the preservation of historic buildings, including warehouses.
